The Westin Mauritius: a luxury wellness retreat for couples and relaxation

|| Where tranquil ocean views, refined wellness, and Mauritian hospitality come together ||

Mauritius an island that feels handpainted by nature, where turquoise lagoons shimmer beneath golden
light and sunsets spill across the horizon like liquid gold. Along the quiet stretch of Turtle Bay, the rhythm of
the ocean encourages you to slow down, exhale, and melt into island time. And there, held between the sea
and lush tropical gardens, is a retreat that captures the essence of mindful luxury.

The concept

The Westin Mauritius Turtle Bay Resort & Spa is a sanctuary for those seeking nourishment of both body and soul. It’s a place where wellness, nature, and refined comfort are thoughtfully intertwined. At The Westin Mauritius, wellbeing isn’t a concept, it’s a rhythm that guides each day. You Sleep Well in the signature Westin Heavenly Bed, lulled by ocean breezes, restored and refreshed as the island light fills your room. Mornings begin with colorful, nourishing dishes that embody the Eat Well philosophy with vibrant tropical fruit, vegetables and fresh herbs. Movement happens naturally here. Whether it’s a sunrise stretch by the water, a peaceful paddle across still turquoise lagoons, a play at the tennis court, or a strength session beneath swaying palms, you Move Well with the island as your studio. And when stillness calls, the Heavenly Spa invites you to Feel Well through soothing treatments, gentle rituals, and quiet moments that release tension and settle the mind. As the days unfold gently, encouraging you to Play Well, from barefoot beach walks and sunset cocktails to discovering local culture and savoring simple joys in a setting made for slowing down. And if inspiration strikes, serene corners and thoughtful touches make it easy to Work Well, blending clarity, creativity, and calm. Every detail is designed to help you return to yourself, to breathe deeper, unwind fully, and leave feeling renewed from the inside out. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, the resort blends authentic Mauritian warmth with restorative spaces and world-class hospitality, offering guests a deeply tranquil and rejuvenating escape. Because here, luxury isn’t loud; it’s the feeling of being completely at peace.

The rooms

We stayed three nights in the Heavenly Junior Suite Beachfront, and it became one of our favorite spaces on the island. Waking up to the sound of the ocean, stepping straight into the tropical gardens, and being just steps away from breakfast and the main facilities made every moment feel effortless and serene. Later in our trip, we also experienced a Junior Suite, which offered the same soothing atmosphere and spacious comfort. While both stays were wonderful, the beachfront location of the Heavenly Junior Suite made our mornings slower, calmer, and just a little more magical.

Room Highlights

Heavenly Junior Suite Beachfront

  • Best for: Couples, honeymooners, wellness-seekers

  • Location: Directly facing the ocean, steps from the beach & breakfast

  • Why we loved it: Westin Heavenly Bed, ocean breeze mornings, peaceful setting

  • Vibe: Calm, romantic, restorative

  • Upgrade tip: If you love waking up to the ocean & being close to amenities, choose beachfront, it's definitely worth it.

Junior Suite

  • Best for: Longer stays, travelers who love extra space

  • Vibe: Quiet, spacious, and elegant with all Westin wellness touches

  • Note: A great option, but we still recommend oceanfront if you enjoy

The Culinary experiences

Dining at The Westin Mauritius is a celebration of flavor, culture, and creativity. Each restaurant has its own personality, from warm spice-rich comfort to refined Japanese precision and casual beachfront bites.

Kangan: Indian Restaurant Kangan stole our hearts. Warm, aromatic, and deeply flavorful, the kind of Indian cuisine that feels soulful. We had the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Curry, both rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. Paired with crispy papadums and vibrant chutneys, it was a truly comforting dinner.

Fusion: Teppanyaki & Sushi Fusion delivered one of the best sushi experiences we've ever had, without exaggeration. We enjoyed both set menus with teppanyaki and sushi, and every bite was delicate and refined. Ultra-soft fish, well seasoned rice, and beautiful flavor balance. Also, we tried their lobster and wagyu beef, which were super tender and had a buttery soft taste. Our compliments to Madelyn for an excellent diner.

Mystiq: Beachfront Dining Easy, breezy, and delicious. Mystiq is perfect for a relaxed lunch or sunset dinner with ocean views. The star? The dynamite shrimp, so addictive that we ordered it multiple times.

Seasonal Tastes: Buffet Restaurant The buffet offers plenty of choice and rotating themes. It’s good and convenient, though for us, the à-lacarte options had more personality. Still, a solid choice if you love variety or prefer casual dining.

The Chef’s Garden, Farm-to-Fork Experience: A standout experience and one we absolutely recommend. Set in the resort’s herb and vegetable garden, this intimate lunch felt fresh, vibrant, and full of character. We tasted herbs cut seconds before they reached our plates, seasonal vegetables, such as tomatoes, salad, okra and more bursting with flavor, and house-made drinks infused with garden botanicals. The wine pairing was excellent, and the herbal beverage was surprisingly refreshing and complex, the kind of drink you instantly want to recreate at home. It’s immersive, personal, and genuinely delicious. A beautiful showcase of Westin’s wellness philosophy.

Breakfast

Breakfast here sets the tone for slow, sunny mornings, tropical fruit, pastries, live cooking, healthy options, and ocean breezes. Whether you’re craving a nourishing plate or a sweet holiday treat, you’ll find both here.
